Daxian Temple Great Hero Hall: Cundi

TAIWAN, Tainan; Qing dynasty (1644–1911); Wood; H: 42 cm
The figure is seated cross-legged on a double lotus throne. The two arms at the front are in anjali (reverence) mudra and two others are stretched above, holding a sun disc and a moon disc. The remaining arms are arranged about the body, holding a variety of other attributes and mudras. The Bodhisattva wears a five-Buddha crown as well as a stole that falls the length of the body. A green gem has been inlaid into the belt that secures the lower robe. An inscription on the petals of the lotus throne reads Daxian Temple Buddha. ""
