Co Thach Temple

VIETNAM, Binh Thuan, Tuy Phong
Co Thach means Ancient Rock. The temple is located on a 64 m high granite rock at Ca Duoc beach. Originally there was just a small hut but a temple was built there during the 19th century. It has been renovated a number of times. It is listed as a National Cultural Heritage Site.
Occupying an area of 1,200 sq m, the temple consists of the main gate and the main hall. Built between two large rocks, the two-story main gate has an arched doorway and a much smaller arch above. The main hall is built into a cleft in a rock. On either side of the doorway there are pilasters and above the doorway there is an architrave with a lotus relief. Above the architrave there is a unique model of a three-tier stupa. On the grounds of the temple there is a statue of Reclining Buddha and a standing Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva.
