Piyang Cave 5: Manjusri Bodhisattva

CHINA, Tibet, Ngari; circa 11th century
This mural is located on the east wall of Cave 5 of Area 1. The blue Manjusri Bodhisattva has a damaged face and sits in full lotus position upon a lotus throne. Manjusri is depicted holding a sword in the right hand. The figure wears a headdress, a dhoti, and various stoles.
