Palcho Monastery Kumbum Stupa: Sachen Kunga Nyingpo

Sachen Kunga Nyingpo is the son of the founder of Sakya Monastery, Konchok Gyalpo, and is the First Patriarch of the Sakya school. The painted figure sits cross-legged upon a lotus throne with a flame patterned nimbus and aureole. The figure is dressed in monk's attire under a maroon waistcoat and brown mantle. The hands rest on the knees, with the right hand in bhumisparsa (earth-touching) mudra.
