Bamiyan Niche H: Apsaras

AFGHANISTAN, Bamiyan; circa 6th-7th century
This mural is located on the west wall of the Niche H, which is located in the Bamiyan Valley on the cliff wall between the East and the West Buddha Niches. The mural features two groups of apsaras, who have nimbuses in different colors encircling their heads. The apsaras are depicted holding flowers in an act of offering. Their legs are raised behind them, suggesting flight.
