Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva

| Avalokitesvara wears a high, typically Liao dynasty crown with a seated Buddha image and decorated with floriated patterns. The Bodhisattva's eyelids are slightly open and the lips full. The head is tilted slightly to one side. The Bodhisattva sits in the royal ease posture with the right arm resting on the raised right knee. The left hand steadies the body and the right hand is missing. One stole is loosely tied across the body while another winds down the arms. The ends of an elaborately tied sash fall over the skirt. |
