Palcho Monastery Kumbum Stupa: Sachen Kunga Nyingpo

| Sachen Kunga Nyingpo is the son of the founder of Sakya Monastery, Konchok Gyalpo, and is the First Patriarch of the Sakya school. The painted figure sits cross-legged upon a lotus throne with a flame patterned nimbus and aureole. The figure is dressed in monk's attire under a maroon waistcoat and brown mantle. The hands rest on the knees, with the right hand in bhumisparsa (earth-touching) mudra. |
