Mogao Cave 249: Phoenix Carriage

| This image is in the center of the south slope of the ceiling. A female deity wearing a long, wide-sleeved robe is seated within a carriage pulled by three phoenixes. Leading the way in front of the carriage is a heavenly being riding a phoenix. The carriage has a canopy topped with decorative banners. An entourage including apsaras and other heavenly beings accompanies the carriage in its flight. |
