Songhyeondong: Seated Buddha

| This Buddha statue, carved in high relief from a boulder at Songhyeondong, has simple hair with a large usnisa surrounded by a single line. The face is square with strong features, and the earlobes hang down to the shoulders. The shoulders are broad, and are slightly bent forward. The figure wears a thin and fitted right shoulder-baring monastic robe with fluid folds. The Buddha is seated in full lotus position, and his hands form the bhumisparsa (earth-touching) mudra. This statue was listed as Treasure No. 75 in 1962. |
