Incense Burner

This round burner has a heavy build and is divided into panels with a rectangular design in each background. In the center of each large panel, there are auspicious creatures running beneath clouds. The burner has a narrow shoulder and a fat rim with two pointed ear-like protrusions extending from it.
The making of celadon pottery in Korea expanded during the 11th century and became fully-developed during the 12th century. This incense burner was a product of this peak stage. |
