Statuette of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva

| Created during the Qing dynasty, this statuette of Avalokitesvara portrays the Bodhisattva with plaited hair that has ribbons hanging down to the waist. The figure has downcast eyes, a long nose, large ears, and a narrow mouth. A robe covers both shoulders and flows down the slim body in thick folds, while a necklace adorns the bare chest. The hands are hidden in the sleeves. Avalokitesvara kneels sideways on a rock and twists to the front. The long robe falls down over the rock. On the right of the Bodhisattva there is a small table with three scrolls of sutra on it. |
