CHINA, Xinjiang, Bayingolin; 3th century; L: 65 cm; National Museum, New Delhi, India
This mural fragment from Miran Stupa 5 features a heavenly being with a round face, large eyes, and open wings. The head of the figure is outlined with brown, while the eyebrows, eyelashes, and hair are painted with black lines. Red shading adds detail to the wings. A thin black border runs across the top of the image, and a semicircular line extends around the body of the figure.
