Wat Buddhanusorn
USA, California, Fremont
Buddhanusorn means the Dedication to the Buddha. It was built in 1983 in traditional Thai style and was visited by Queen Sirikit of Thailand in 1993.
The temple has a two-layer roof with a gable above the entrance. The roof is covered with green and yellow tiles, and has exquisite gold leaf spires and other decorative features. The two-story building consists of the ceremonial main hall on the upper story, which houses a golden Buddha in bhumisparsa (earth-touching) mudra on the central altar. The Buddha niche features a mural with scenes of traditional Buddhist and Thai legends. The lower story is partially sunken below ground level and houses offices, music studios, rehearsal halls, and a multi-purpose hall. There are also monastic residences, together with a kitchen, dining room, offices, and social spaces. |
