Feng Sufu Tomb: Ornament with Seated Buddha

This gold ornament was excavated from the tomb of Feng Sufu in 1965. It was created using repousse. The center holds an image of the Buddha, seated in full lotus position on a throne backed with a mandorla. On each side there are attendant Bodhisattvas. Surround the central images is sawtooth and honeysuckle patterning. The reverse side has over 30 round discs attached with gold thread.
