Bowl with the Kalacakra Monogram

According to the inscription in regular script on the bottom of the bowl, it was created during the rule of Emperor Wanli (reigned 1573-1620) of the Ming dynasty. It was used by the imperial family for making offerings.
The blue and white porcelain bowl measures 3.8 cm high with a 12 cm diameter at the rim. It has a low foot from which it curves gently outward to the slightly flared rim. The bowl is covered in over 200 Sanskrit seed syllables written in five rows inside and on the outside of the bowl. The Kalacakra monogram appears at the bottom inside the bowl. |
