Giac Vien Temple: Incense Burner with Dragons

VIETNAM, Ho Chi Minh City; Bronze; H: 41 cm
This bronze incense burner has a base with several tiers, a squat bowl, and a prominent rim. Two dragon neck handles extend from the bowl and end in ferocious dragons' heads. There is an inscription with the temple's name in the center, surrounded by scrolling vines, foliage, and birds. Beneath the base there is a complex openwork tree.
