Bell

CHINA; Tang dynasty (618–907), dated 770; Bronze;H: 51 cm; Jiangxi Provincial Museum, Nanchang, China
From the inscription on the bell, it is known that it was cast in 770 during the Tang dynasty. Buddhist texts and the names of donors are inscribed on the bell; however, some are difficult to decipher.
The crown of the bell is in the form of two small dragons. The curvature of the upper section of the bell is slight, and the waist is divided into upper and lower sections by bands of embossed lines, creating four large panels in the upper section and four smaller panels in the lower section. The raised boss is in the form of a lotus.
