Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva
KOREA; Goryeo dynasty (918–1392); Stone; H: 113.5 cm; Chosun Central History Museum, Pyongyang, North Korea
The Bodhisattva sits on a rock in a relaxation posture, with the right leg overhanging the seat. The figure wears a tall, ornate headdress and is bedecked with flowers and a large amount of jewelry. A stole loops downward from the shoulders and the skirt stops short at the ankles. The three lines of a great person are visible on the neck. Both hands rest naturally on the knees. |
