Bamiyan West Buddha Niche: Male Figure Making an Offering
AFGHANISTAN, Bamiyan; circa early 7th century
This mural was located on the east side of the ceiling within the West Buddha Niche, and was destroyed by the Taliban in 2001. It depicted a male figure holding a large tray above his head in offering. The figure kneeled while looking to one side. His lapelled overcoat, riding boots, and short sword were indicative of nobility. |
