Maijishan Grotto 121: Bodhisattva and Disciple

Works of the late Northern Wei dynasty (386–534), these statues are located in the corner of the back and left walls. The Bodhisattva and disciple wear long robes with billowing sleeves. There are nimbuses behind their heads and they lean towards one another. The Bodhisattva has a high topknot. The right hand is missing. The disciple, with joined palms, has a shaven head. |
