Tuokuzisalai Hall N: Head of a Monk

The sculpture from Tuokuzisalai Hall N is believed to represent a monk with a shaven head. As with other artifacts from the region, the face was cast from a mold, the impression of which is plainly visible around the edge of the piece. The line of the nose is out of center, and the remaining ear is set back on the head. The longer line of the lower lip appears to be a feature of the people living in the area at the time and is found in heads from neighboring Tuokuzisalai.
