Okcheonsa Temple: Gong

SOUTH KOREA, South Gyeongsang, Goseong; Goryeo dynasty (918–1392), dated 1252; Bronze; Diameter: 55 cm
This rather large gong features four concentric rings, the inner most of which is the boss and has six petals with six lotus seeds inside. Outward from there, the second ring is decorated with lotus petals. The third has no decoration and the fourth and outermost ring is filled with a scroll leaf pattern. At the top, there are suspension loops. The gong was listed as Treasure No. 495 in 1968.
