Silleuksa Temple Pagoda
SOUTH KOREA, Gyeonggi, Yeoju
The pagoda is located within Silleuksa Temple. It is believed to have been built during the Goryeo dynasty (918–1392). According to the inscription found on the north side of the pagoda, it was rebuilt in 1726 during the Joseon dynasty. It was listed as Treasure No. 226 in 1963.
The multi-tier pagoda consists of a granite base and a brick body. The base stands on a wide base platform. The high base is surmounted by three horizontal layers which decrease in size. The body consists of seven tiers, each with eaves that protrude slightly. The bricks are engraved with patterns such as scroll leaves and beaded pattern. The spire consists of the base, an inverted bowl, a wheel, and a canopy. |
