Dharma Wheel

CHINA; Qing dynasty (1644–1911); Gilt silver; H: 47.5 cm; Tibet Museum, Lhasa, Tibet, China
A turquoise is embedded within the hub of this Dharma wheel. The concentric rings around the turquoise symbolize the continuity of the Dharma. The wheel is positioned in the center of a lotus petal, which features the eight auspicious symbols on a background of vine stems and leaves. There is a bead pattern on the rim of the lotus with a half vajra at the top. The bell-shaped base has lotus patterns at the top, a Tibetan Buddhist inscription at the bottom, and a bead pattern around the rim.
