Hwangnyongsa Temple: Roof Tile with Lotus Design

This decorative roof-end tile, found west of the nine-tier wooden pagoda at Hwangnyongsa Temple, has a relief of two lotuses. There are nine lotus seeds in the center, which are encircled by a ring of dots representing the stamen, followed by the petals. On either side, there is an eight-petal lotus. The corners are decorated with a scroll leaf motif. |
