Standing Bodhisattva

The Bodhisattva stands with bare feet on a lotus pedestal, wearing a headdress with ribbons on either side. A stole around the broad shoulders falls to ankle level. The string bead ornament that extends from the necklace to the belt and then continues over the skirt parallels the stole. The figure holds a whisk in the right hand and a vase in the left. The openwork nimbus in the shape of a flaming wheel is stylistically reminiscent of the Tang dynasty (618–907), suggesting that it may have been added later.
