Seo Gubang (Active 1314-1339)
KOREA; Goryeo dynasty (918–1392)
Seo Gubang was a painter during the rule of King Chungsuk (reigned 1314-1330, 1332-1339) of Goryeo. His only surviving work is a depiction of Water-Moon Avalokitesvara, now kept at the Senoku Museum in Kyoto, Japan.
According to an inscription in gold appearing on the left side of the painting, Seo had a title that was of relation to the King, and thus it is inferred that Seo was an imperial painter during the Goryeo dynasty (918-1392). |
