Standing Bodhisattva

The Bodhisattva stands with the right foot advanced and the left supporting the body 's weight, displacing the waist to the right. The head is inclined forward, weighted with hair piled high in an ornamental topknot, from which some braids fall over the shoulders. A jeweled three-leaf crown with floral sidepieces is on the head. Other jewelry includes floral earrings, a two-stranded necklace, and belt with similar clasps. A whisk is in the figure 's right hand. The left hand supports a heavy lotus stem, from which the flower has been broken short. A sacred thread runs across the torso, while a sash with a large tie crosses the hips, enclosing a decorated skirt with a long hem hanging between the legs in the Nepali fashion. |
