Qing Imperial Palace Cining Palace: Canopy

This canopy was once kept in Cining Palace Garden of the Qing Imperial Palace and measures 49.2 cm high and 10.5 cm wide. The cylindrical canopy has a flat top with a jewel in the center. The surface is decorated with ornate drapery and ribbons, and the entire canopy is supported by a long handle with a vajra at the end. The vajra is decorated with inverted lotus and scroll leaf patterns. This piece has a magnificent appearance and emphasizes the skills of Qing imperial craftsmen.
