This painting, currently kept at Dabosa Temple, was originally enshrined in Boheungsa Temple. It was made during the late Joseon dynasty (1392-1910) by the monk Euigyeom and nine other painters. In 2002, it was listed as Treasure No. 1343.
The central Buddha and two Bodhisattvas stand barefooted on lotus pedestals. He wears a patterned monastic robe that leaves the right shoulder bare. The right arm is extended downwards, while the left hand forms a mudra. The nimbus is decorated with multiple layers of color. One layer contains images of vajras. The two attendant Bodhisattvas wear ornate crowns and beautifully patterned monastic robes. They are adorned with earrings, ornaments, and bracelets. Amitabha Buddha, Medicine Buddha, and Bodhisattvas Avalokitesvara and Mahasthamaprapta are painted in the upper corners. |
