Bingling Temple Cave 4: Seated Buddha

This statue of a seated Buddha is located on the west wall. The Buddha sits on a raised throne with legs pendent, with one hand holding an alms bowl in front of the abdomen. There is a high usnisa on his head and an urna on his forehead. The Buddha’s face is rounded with delicate features and partially closed eyes. Three lines are engraved across the neck. The Buddha wears inner and outer monastic robes draped over both shoulders, with a low drooping collar and folds detailed on the legs. The Buddha’s bare feet rest upon a semicircular platform.
