This highly decorative alms bowl was once in the collection of the Qing Imperial Palace. In the shape of an oblate spheroid with a narrow flat base, the bowl has a rim that is ringed by floral and dragon patterns. The main section of the bowl is decorated with eight dragons alternating with the eight auspicious symbols, and interlaced with a scroll leaf pattern. On the bottom, there is an inscription stating that it was cast during the rule of Emperor Qianlong (reigned 1736-1795). The interior is lined with red cloth with patterns in gold. |
