Yeshe Tendzin (1915-1971)

CHINA, Tibet, Lhoka
A Tibetan monk and painter from Gongkar Monastery in Lhoka, Yeshe Tendzin learned the Menri school style of painting from a young age. He was inspired by the murals painted by Khyentse school master Khyentse Chenmo and often copied his works. To these works, he added his own stylistic features, and later created many unique paintings of his own. His efforts aided in the revival of the Khyentse school of painting. One fine example of his painting is the mural of Gongkar Monastery.
