Fahua Pagoda: Figurine of Maitreya Bodhisattva

This figurine of Maitreya Bodhisattva was recovered from the underground palace of Fahua Pagoda in 1996. The Bodhisattva has a large round head with a jocular face, closed eyes, and earlobes that hang down to the shoulders. Clad in a dark-colored robe with naturally flowing folds, the left hand is placed on the knee and the right rests on a platform. |
