Longmen Grottoes: Warrior

This statue was taken from one of the grottoes at Longmen, and is now housed in the Rietberg Museum, Switzerland. The warrior, with a well-defined muscular build, stands with a turned head, and leans to one side. He has glaring eyes, a furrowed brow, and a topknot. The left arm is held behind the body and the right grasps his stole at the side. The right leg is raised slightly and rests upon a rock.
