Figurine of Child-Granting Avalokitesvara

This figurine of a Child-Granting Avalokitesvara depicts the Bodhisattva with a high forehead, round, downcast eyes, a large nose, and narrow mouth. The Bodhisattva wears a beaded necklace with a medallion on the end, and has hair that is tied up in a band under a headdress. The shoulders are covered in a long shawl, and the body is enveloped in a voluminous robe with long sleeves. The Bodhisattva carries a child in her arm and grasps the child's right foot in her right hand. |
