Created in the Goryeo dynasty, an inscription on the shoulder of this vessel states it was restored in 1067. It was later listed as Treasure No. 208 in 1963.
The vessel has a broad base and curves gently up toward a narrow shoulder and wide mouth. There is a cloud-shaped handle on either side of the vessel, and in the center of the curved lid, there is an elaborate vajra. The short shaft has a raised bead pattern in the middle. There are inverted lotus petals below the prongs of the vajra, and the entire piece is surrounded by a lively flame motif. The remainder of the vessel is undecorated. |
