Situated in the center area, Niche 12 is 1.22 m in width, 1.86 m in height, and 0.31 m in depth. Inside the arched niche is a seated Buddha.
The Buddha, with hands placed on the knees, wears a monastic robe over both shoulders and sits in full lotus position on a Sumeru throne. The robe hangs over the edge. An inscription to the left of the niche dates it to 803 of the Tang dynasty and identifies the donor as Li Shuye. |
