Songgwangsa Temple: Vajra Bell

SOUTH KOREA, South Jeolla, Suncheon; Goryeo dynasty (918–1392); Gilt bronze; H: 20.6 cm
This is a Dharma instrument used during Vajrayana Buddhist rituals. It was listed as Treasure No. 176 in 1962.
　 The ritual bell consists of a handle and a body. The handle is long, resembling a pillar. The shoulder of the bell is decorated with lotus and scroll leaf patterns, and the cylindrical waist is separated into four faces by lines of beads. Each face features reliefs such as dragons, scroll leaves, clouds, and tigers. The rim is curved and delineated by a bead pattern.
