Bagh Cave 4: Floral Design

INDIA, Madhya Pradesh, Indore; circa 5th-6th century
This motif is found on the left wall of the main hall in Cave 4. The stylized branches and leaves curl in an uninterrupted pattern with a variety of flowers painted among the shoots. The result is a pattern which is fluid and dynamic.
