Bamiyan Niche C: Standing Buddhas

AFGHANISTAN, Bamiyan; circa mid to late 6th century
These images line the walls of Niche C, just below the ceiling which measures 6.5 m in diameter. The niche is located in the western Bamiyan Valley, near the East Buddha Niche, and dates to the mid to late 6th century.
Due to deterioration, there are only six standing Buddha images remaining on the southern part of the ceiling, each with damage done to the face. The Buddhas wear monastic robes which cover both shoulders, and stand on lotus pedestals while forming different hand mudras.
