Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva with Sudhana and the Naga Girl

Avalokitesvara sits on a multi-layered lotus throne in the posture of royal ease, with both hands clasping the left knee. The throne rests on a thick stem emanating from a Sumeru pedestal surrounded by a ornate balustrade. A shawl covers the figure's topknot, with its image of Amitabha, and semi-precious stones inlay the Bodhisattva's few pieces of jewelry. Two smaller lotus outgrowths extend from the main stem and serve as pedestals for two attendant figures. Sudhana, positioned on the left, wears a fluttering stole and has palms joined in reverence while the Naga Girl stands on the right holding a vase. |
