Yeondongri: Seated Buddha
SOUTH KOREA, North Jeolla, Iksan; Baekje period (18 BCE–663 CE); Granite
seated Buddhas. Stylized cloud patterns are visible on the left side while flame patterns are on the right. The remarkable similarities of the mandorla to another set of statues created during the Three Kingdoms period (57 BCE–668 CE) have allowed experts to determine that the statue was sculpted during the early 7th century. |
