Gongxian Cave 3: Ceiling

CHINA, Henan, Zhengzhou; Northern Wei dynasty (386–534); Stone
Most parts of this ceiling are well preserved, except for a damaged corner. The design is generally similar to that of the ceiling in Cave 1, with some slight differences. The apsaras on this ceiling have varying appearances and strike dynamic poses. In addition, the lotus flower designs are slightly different from those in Cave 1, and the frame of the squares is adorned with floral patterns.
