This porcelain statue was acquired in a village in Jirem Aimag of Inner Mongolia in 1986. It is a work of the Ding potteries run by the Chinese Han people and was created during the Liao dynasty (907–1125).
Ananda has a high forehead, round face, downcast eyes, long nose, and long earlobes. The distinct three lines of a great person are visible on the neck. An inner and outer robe with long sleeves is worn covering both shoulders. A set of chanting beads is held in the right hand, while the left hand rests on the left knee. |
