Kumtura Cave 23: Standing Figure
CHINA, Xinjiang, Aksu; circa 6th century
This image of a figure in secular dress is located in the rear corridor within the main chamber of the cave. The figure is illustrated with a nimbus and an aureole. His legs are crossed and he is dressed in a waistcoat with a round collar. A damaged ink inscription in Kuchean script is found above the aureole. |
