Seated Buddha

The Buddha has a high usnisa and long earlobes. He wears a monastic robe over the left shoulder with an inner robe beneath, sculpted in dense and delicate drapery that suggests Gandharan influence. The right arm is raised in the abhaya (fearlessness) mudra. The figure sits with legs in the lotus position upon a square Sumeru throne guarded by two seated lions at its foot. The throne is perched upon a four-legged square stand, embossed with foliated designs and figures making offerings.
