This statue was originally installed on the left side within the niche on the back (west) wall of the main chamber. The figure was removed in 1923, and is now held at the Harvard Art Museums in Cambridge, USA.
The Bodhisattva kneels on one leg with palms joined in reverence. The head is tilted slightly forward and the hair is tied in a high topknot. The face is oval and appears serene and focused with downcast eyes. The figure has a long torso and a narrow waist. The Bodhisattva wears necklaces, armlets, and bracelets. A stole is draped over the shoulders and the thin lower garment is carefully fashioned in U-shaped folds. |
