Kizil Cave 67: Patterns
CHINA, Xinjiang, Aksu; circa 6th–7th century
patterns consist of honeysuckle motifs in wave-like curves and various smaller floral motifs with twining foliage. The patterns are colored in ocher red, pink, green, black, and white, and are bright, warm, and lively, emblazoned below the ceiling’s edges. This style of decorative pattern, laid out in wide bands, is rarely seen among the Kuchean Caves. |
