Phuoc Lam Temple
VIETNAM, Quang Nam, Hoi An
Phuoc Lam means Grove of Blessings. It was built during the 18th century by the monk An Triem and was subsequently renovated by succeeding abbots. The temple is listed as a National Cultural Heritage Site.
The three-bay wide main hall is the principal building of the temple. It has a double-eave roof with nagas carved on the main ridge. The hall is connected on each side to a two-story building. In front of the hall there is a statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva standing on a high pedestal. Located within the temple there is a funerary stupa of Vinh Gia, who is from the 39th generation lineage of the Linji school of Chan Buddhism. |
